Felony DWI Charge On Tuesday, July 7th, at approximately 9:00 p.m., New Hartford Police responded to the area of 151 Clinton Road for a report of a vehicle that, according to the reporting person, may have been possibly involved in a collision. It was reported that the vehicle was stopped in the parking lot and occupied by an unresponsive male driver at this time within the parking lot at 151 Clinton Rd. Upon arrival, officers located a running 2011 Ford Escape with an adult male passed out and seated in the driver's seat while the car was held at a stop by the operator's foot resting on the brake pedal. Officers were able to wake the operator. Upon making contact with the operator, the operator was identified as Vincent Infusino, age 43, of Whitestown. During the investigation, officers observed signs of intoxication. Police administered standard field sobriety tests upon Infusino. Based on the results of the investigation, Infusino was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated. Further investigation by police determined that Infusino would be charged with Felony Driving While Intoxicated. Infusino was arrested and transported to the New Hartford Police Department, where a breath test was administered. Infusino was charged with the following: 1) NYS VTL 1192(3) -Driving While Intoxicated, a Misdemeanor. 2) NYS VTL 1192(2) – Driving While Intoxicated, Previous DWI Convictions within 10 Years, a Felony. Thompson, age 29, of South Carolina, was charged with: Criminal Possession of a Loaded Firearm in the Second Degree (Class C Felony) Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree (Class A Misdemeanor) Criminal Possession of a Firearm in the Third Degree (Class D Felony) Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (Class C Felony) Harassment in the Second Degree (Violation) Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree (Class A Misdemeanor) On July 7, 2026, at approximately 9:00 a.m., New York State Police in Marcy responded to a domestic dispute involving a tractor-trailer traveling westbound on State Route 49 near Cavanaugh Road in the town of Marcy. An investigation determined that Thompson was operating a 2021 Freightliner tractor-trailer when she became involved in a dispute with her passenger, Capers. During the incident, Thompson brought the tractor-trailer to an abrupt stop in the middle of the roadway before reversing and striking an uninvolved 2022 Jeep occupied by Kenneth D. Zorns, age 43, of Morrisonville, NY. During the investigation, Troopers recovered a loaded 9mm Taurus G3C handgun and two large-capacity ammunition feeding devices after they were thrown from the tractor trailer. Neither Thompson nor Capers claimed ownership of the firearm, and neither possessed a valid New York State pistol permit. No injuries were reported as a result of the crash. According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, a Utica woman was arrested following a larceny investigation at the Oneida County Office Building, located at 800 Park Ave. in the City of Utica. On July 8, 2026, at about 9:49 AM, Tiffany L. Greene, age 41, of Utica, walked into the Street Corner Market Store, which is located in the Oneida County Office Building. She removed several Kit Kat and Kinder Bueno candy bars from a shelf, placed them in a duffel bag, and left the store without paying for them. A store employee reported to Deputies who were at the Oneida County Office Building that Greene was in the store when she noticed all of the candy bars missing from the shelf. Greene was immediately taken into custody after she left the store, and all of the missing candy bars were located in her duffel bag. A total of 26 candy bars were stolen and recovered. Greene was brought to the Oneida County Courthouse booking room, was arrested, and charged with Petit Larceny, 155.25, of the New York State Penal Law, a class A misdemeanor. Greene was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Utica City Court at a later date and time and then released. By CNYonline.com News New York is among the states currently reporting some of the highest numbers of cyclosporiasis cases in the United States, as federal and state health officials continue to investigate clusters of the gastrointestinal illness. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 145 domestically acquired cases of cyclosporiasis were reported across 17 states among people who became sick from May 1 through June 16, 2026. The CDC reported 20 hospitalizations and no deaths connected to the current surveillance count. In New York, the CDC reported between 31 and 80 cases during that same period. Health officials have not identified one specific source tied to the New York cases, and the CDC says there is currently no evidence of a single multistate outbreak linking all reported cases. Cyclosporiasis is an intestinal illness caused by the microscopic parasite Cyclospora. It is typically spread when someone eats food or drinks water contaminated with the parasite. Past U.S. outbreaks have often been connected to fresh produce, especially imported produce, according to the New York State Department of Health. Common symptoms include diarrhea, stomach cramps, bloating, nausea, fatigue, loss of appetite, and weight loss. Some people may also experience vomiting, body aches, headache, low-grade fever, or flu-like symptoms. Symptoms often begin about one week after infection, though some people may not have symptoms at all. The CDC says cyclosporiasis cases typically rise during the warmer months, with the main surveillance season running from May 1 through August 31. Health officials are continuing to investigate possible sources and clusters, including whether any cases may be tied to a common food source. Residents are encouraged to wash fresh fruits and vegetables thoroughly under running water, keep produce refrigerated, wash hands before preparing food, and contact a healthcare provider if they experience ongoing diarrhea or severe stomach symptoms. Cooking food can kill the parasite. What to know: Cyclosporiasis can be treated, but it may require specific testing to diagnose. Anyone with prolonged diarrhea, dehydration concerns, or symptoms that do not improve should contact their healthcare provider.

Update: The New York State Police are investigating the death of Anna J. Blaszkow, age 24, of Chittenango, also known as Ansel Blaszkow, following an extensive missing person investigation that began in May 2026. On July 2, 2026, at approximately 11:31 a.m., Blaszkow was located deceased in a heavily wooded area just outside of Chittenango Falls State Park, off Carrys Hill Road in the town of Cazenovia. Blaszkow was found by New York State Police Trooper Conners and K9 “Todz” while conducting a preliminary inspection of the area in preparation for an additional search operation that had been scheduled with the Chittenango Police Department. At this time, there is no indication of foul play. An autopsy will be conducted by the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office to confirm the cause of death. The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) in Oneida has taken the lead of this investigation and is working with the Chittenango Police Department. Blaszkow, age 24, from Chittenango, NY, who is also believed to identify as Ansel Blaszkow. On May 14, 2026, the parents of Blaszkow reported them missing to the Chittenango Police Department after they had not been seen since May 11, 2026. The family became concerned after locating a letter expressing self-harm. Investigators believe Blaszkow utilized transportation in an unknown vehicle from their residence in the village of Chittenango to Chittenango Falls State Park on May 12, 2026. Blaszkow is described as 5’3 and 240 pounds with brown hair. They were last seen a wearing high visibility jacket with a NASA logo, a black or dark gray T-shirt, sweatpants, and white sneakers. The New York State Police are assisting Chittenango Police with the investigation and search efforts in and around the park area. The public may notice a heavy police presence, including K9 units, drones, New York State Park Police, and Department of Environmental Conservation Forest Rangers. The preliminary investigation determined that a 31-year-old male was operating the scooter northbound on State Route 48 when he failed to negotiate a turn, traveled onto the eastern shoulder, and struck a utility pole. The operator was alert when emergency responders arrived and was initially believed to have sustained non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Oswego Hospital, where he later succumbed to what is believed to be internal injuries. The operator was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash; however, the helmet became dislodged during the collision. An autopsy will be conducted by the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the official cause and manner of death. Members of the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to the scene. Investigators ask anyone with information regarding this collision, or anyone who may have witnessed the incident, to contact the New York State Police in Fulton at 315-298-2112. On July 1, 2026, Troopers out of SP Buffalo- Troop T, arrested James R. Phalen, 34 of Alden, NY for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic tickets. On July 1, 2026, at 7:20 P.M., Troopers were dispatched to a one car property damage collision on the I-190 southbound at MPM 13.9 in the town of Tonawanda. Investigation determined that at 7:38 P.M., the responding Trooper was outside of the marked State Police Charger 4T70 with emergency lights activated. While standing in the roadway, a 2014 Dodge Ram with a dolly trailer operated by Phalen struck a 2007 Ford Focus. The Ford Fucus then struck 4T70, causing 4T70 to strike the 2025 Dodge Charger which was the vehicle collision Troopers responded to originally. The Dodge Ram eventually came to rest on the right shoulder of the roadway. Seeing the oncoming collision the Trooper moved from the center of the roadway and hopped over the concrete center barrier into the northbound side of travel to avoid being struck. Phalen was uninjured and arrested for DWI by additional responding Troopers. Phalen refused the chemical test at SP Buffalo and issued appearance tickets. Vernon Downs truly stepped it up this year with its three-day Independence Carnival, giving families across the community a festive and memorable way to celebrate the holiday weekend. Held on July 2, 3, and 4, the carnival offered three straight days of family fun, featuring exciting rides, entertainment, and plenty of attractions for all ages. Families, friends, and visitors came together to enjoy the event, making it one of the highlights of the Independence Day celebration in the area. The celebration reached its peak on July 4th with a massive fireworks display that absolutely did not disappoint. On July 3rd, 2026 at approximately 12:15AM Upon arrival units located several spent shell casings of at least two different calibers and were advised that a vehicle had been struck. While conducting a canvas on scene, a separate call was received stating a party had been struck by gunfire on the 1500 block of Kemble St. Upon arriving on Kemble St they were met by an extremely uncooperative individual suffering from a gunshot wound to his thigh. From what little information they were able to obtain, it was determined that this party was on Churchill Ave, and was struck during the shooting incident there. The male refused all medical treatment and did not provide any additional information to officers.
