Meet Captain Angela Holmes. Captain Holmes has proudly served the Syracuse Police Department for over 21 years.

She has wanted to be a police officer for as long as she can remember...

Captain Holmes was hired in 2005. She steadily worked her way through the ranks, earning promotions to Sergeant in 2015, Lieutenant in 2019, and, most recently, Captain in 2026.

For Captain Holmes, Women’s Appreciation Month is especially meaningful. She hopes it shows that a woman in a male-dominated career field can succeed and lead with strength, dedication, and professionalism.

Her career is a testament to perseverance, leadership, and the impact women make every day in law enforcement.
