State Police arrest Syracuse man following narcotics investigation

The New York State Police, in conjunction with the Violent Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team (VGNET), announce the arrest of a Syracuse man following a four-month-long narcotics investigation.
On Friday, May 1, 2026, investigators concluded an extensive investigation that identified 1002 Midland Avenue, in the city of Syracuse, Onondaga County, as a location involved in the sale of illegal narcotics. As a result of the investigation, search warrants were executed at the residence and on Mack A. Givens.
The execution of the warrants resulted in the following seizures:
• Approximately 3.26 pounds of fentanyl
• 72.8 grams of methamphetamine
• Taurus PT111 9mm handgun (reported stolen from Georgia)
• Taurus G3 9mm handgun
• One 30-round high-capacity magazine
• One 15-round high-capacity magazine
• One 12-round high-capacity magazine
• Assorted handgun ammunition
• Narcotics packaging materials
• Digital scale with cocaine residue
Mack A. Givens, age 49, was arrested and charged with:
• Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 1st Degree (Class A-I Felony)
• Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 2nd Degree (Class A-II Felony – Methamphetamine)
• Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree (Class B Felony – Intent to Sell)
• Multiple counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree (Class D Felony)
• Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Firearm (Class E Felony)
• Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree (Class E Felony – Firearm)
• Two counts of Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)
Givens was arraigned and remanded to the Onondaga County Justice Center without bail, where he remains in custody.
The New York State Police were assisted in this investigation by the Syracuse Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
