New Hartford, NY — A Sunday afternoon vehicle collision on Valley View Road resulted in injuries and a temporary road closure, according to the New Hartford Police Department.
Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Sunday, March 29, at the intersection of Valley View Road and Cascade Drive. Upon arrival, officers determined that a utility pole had been severed during the collision, prompting the closure of the roadway for a period of time to ensure public safety and allow crews to complete emergency repairs.
Investigators reported that a Chevrolet SUV was traveling northbound on Valley View Road when the driver lost control while negotiating a slight curve. Police indicated the driver appeared to overcorrect, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and strike a utility pole along the shoulder.
The driver, identified as Dalal Teiah, age 22, of Utica, was transported by Edwards Ambulance to Wynn Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
As a result of the investigation, Teiah was issued a traffic citation for moving from a lane unsafely, in violation of New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law Section 1128(a).
The New Hartford Fire Department and crews from National Grid assisted police at the scene with traffic control and utility repairs.
Authorities remind motorists to use caution when traveling roadways with curves and to adjust speed and vehicle handling to roadway conditions, particularly during early spring weather patterns.
