Vernon Man Arrested After Reported Altercation Involving Pellet Gun

According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, a Vernon man was taken into custody following a physical altercation involving a weapon on Monday evening.
On December 1, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., Road Patrol Deputies responded to 3310 Simmons Road in the Town of Vernon for a report of a disturbance involving a weapon. According to law enforcement, an individual on scene was acting erratically and pointed what appeared to be a handgun at two victims. As the victims attempted to flee into a nearby residence, the suspect reportedly advanced toward them with the weapon in hand.
A physical struggle then broke out between the suspect and one of the victims, who was ultimately able to disarm him. Deputies later determined the weapon to be a handgun-style pellet gun.
Upon arrival, Deputies were able to take the suspect into custody without incident. He was identified as Glenn A. Wallis, age 40, of Vernon. Wallis was transported to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building for processing.
Following an investigation, Deputies charged Wallis with:
Two counts of Menacing in the Second Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)
One count of Harassment in the Second Degree (Violation)
Additionally, a member of the Criminal Investigation Unit charged him with:
One count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (Class D Felony)
Wallis was lodged at the Oneida County Correctional Facility and is scheduled to appear in CAP Court later today, December 2, 2025. Authorities have not reported any serious injuries resulting from the incident.
