Verona Man Airlifted After Motorcycle Crash in Augusta

Augusta, N.Y. — A Verona man was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident Sunday evening in the Town of Augusta, according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol.

Deputies responded to the crash on Huth Sayer Road at approximately 7:09 p.m. on September 28, 2025. Investigators determined that Richard Buryta, 54, was traveling north on a 2013 Victory motorcycle when he failed to negotiate a curve and veered off the eastern side of the roadway.

Emergency crews, including the Oriskany Falls Fire Department, Central Oneida County Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and Mercy Flight, responded to the scene. Buryta was airlifted to SUNY Upstate Hospital in Syracuse for treatment of his injuries.

Clinton Collision provided assistance with towing the motorcycle.

The accident remains under investigation by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.
