Nanticoke, NY — A heated dispute in Broome County turned deadly Tuesday afternoon when authorities say a man deliberately ran down another with his pickup truck.
New York State Police arrested Nathanael J. Manwaring, 36, of Maine, NY, after an investigation revealed he intentionally struck Rodney L. Clark, 41, of Binghamton, during a confrontation at a residence on Lamb Road in the Town of Nanticoke.
The incident unfolded on September 24, 2025, around 3:39 p.m., when Troopers from Binghamton and Endwell were dispatched by the Broome County 911 Center for a report of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle. By the time investigators arrived, Clark had already been rushed to Wilson Hospital by private vehicle, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Police say Manwaring and Clark were involved in an ongoing dispute that escalated in the driveway of the residence, leading Manwaring to allegedly use his truck as a weapon.
Manwaring now faces serious charges, including Murder in the Second Degree, a Class A felony, and Manslaughter in the First Degree, a Class B felony. He was processed at SP Binghamton and transported to the Broome County Correctional Facility for centralized arraignment.
State Police investigators from the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Major Crimes Unit, and Forensic Identification Unit all responded to the scene and hospital as part of the case. The Broome County Sheriff’s Department and Johnson City Police Department also assisted.
Authorities have not released additional details about what sparked the dispute, but the investigation remains active.
