Remembering Trooper Richard L. Hedges Who paid the ultimate sacrifice on duty

Troopers in Troop C remembered Trooper Richard L. Hedges who paid the ultimate sacrifice on July 11, 1942. He was killed in a traffic accident while following a speeding car on Route 17 west of the hamlet of Chemung. The speeding car passed a dump truck and as Trooper Hedges attempted to pass the same truck, it suddenly turned left in front of his cycle. Trooper Hedges was struck and killed instantly.
