Snowmobile fatal collision

On February 8, 2026, at approximately 12:12 P.M., Troopers out of SP Warsaw respond to a snowmobile collision on a private trail off Wilder Road in the town of Warsaw. Investigation determined that a 2012 Ski Doo traveling south on a marked trail lost control and struck a log pile, ejecting the operator, Steven J. Gregorie, 17, of Varysburg, NY. Traveling behind him was a 16-year-old friend operating a 2015 Arctic Cat. The 16-year-old also lost control and left the marked trail, striking the same pile of logs, and he was ejected. The 2015 Arctic Cat came to rest on Gregorie.  Uninvolved operators contacted 911 and assisted on scene.  Gregorie was transported by ambulance to the Wyoming County Community Hospital and was pronounced deceased. An autopsy is scheduled by the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office. The 16-year-old had minor injuries.

No signs of foul play.

The Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Collision Reconstruction Unit, and ENCON assisted in this investigation.
