Traffic stop in town of Plattsburgh leads to drug arrest

On July 8, 2025, members of the New York Police Troop B Community Stabilization Unit (CSU) charged 47-year-old Daryl L. Perkins of Plattsburgh, NY, with multiple offenses. The charges include possession of a controlled substance in a non-original container, possession of a forged instrument in the second degree, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, criminal use of drug paraphernalia in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree (previous conviction), criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree (defaced for concealment), and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree (loaded firearm). He was also issued several vehicle and traffic tickets.

On the same day, New York State Police observed a black 2007 Dodge traveling on Route 3 in Plattsburgh, in violation of vehicle and traffic laws. Troopers conducted a traffic stop and interviewed the driver, identified as Perkins. Further investigation led to a probable cause search, revealing drug paraphernalia, narcotics, and a loaded defaced firearm.

Perkins was arrested and taken to SP Plattsburgh, where he was arraigned in the Town of Plattsburgh Court and subsequently remanded to Clinton County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bond.
