Troop F Community Stabilization Unit Arrests a New Jersey Man on Drug-Related Charges in the Town of Rockland NY

On February 5, 2026, at approximately 8:37 p.m., members of the Troop F Community Stabilization Unit observed a 2025 Jeep traveling westbound on State Route 17 in the Town of Rockland, Sullivan County, committing multiple violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.


Troopers initiated a traffic stop and interviewed the driver and sole occupant, identified as Kevin A. Alvarez, age 39, of Woodridge, NY. K-9 Kell conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle, which resulted in a positive alert for the presence of narcotics.


A subsequent search of Alvarez’s person revealed approximately 103 grams of cocaine and approximately $2,093 in U.S. currency. A search of the vehicle was conducted and yielded no additional contraband.


Alvarez was taken into custody and transported to State Police Liberty for processing without incident.


Alvarez was charged with the following offenses:


• Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, Narcotics, a Class B Felony


• Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, Intent to Sell, a Class B Felony


• Multiple Uniform Traffic Tickets


Alvarez was arraigned in the Town of Fallsburg Court and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear at the Rockland Town Court on February 17, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.
