On July 9, 2026, at approximately 11:36 a.m., the New York State Police responded to Interstate 81 southbound in the town of Cicero for a property damage crash involving a tow truck and a bridge. The investigation determined that Adam P. Mullings, 34, of Syracuse, was operating a 2002 yellow International flatbed tow truck southbound in the right lane of Interstate 81. The tow truck was transporting a 2019 Ford F550 on its flatbed when it attempted to pass beneath the Taft Road bridge. The vehicle being transported struck the underside of the bridge, causing damage to both the Ford F550 and the bridge. Oneida Lake (Oswego County)- According to Sheriff Robert M. Maciol; on Thursday, 07/09/2026, at about 3:50 pm, the Oneida County Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol Unit was patrolling Oneida Lake in Oneida County when they were contacted that there was an overturned pontoon boat, with an unknown amount of people in the water, in the vicinity of Dunham Island and Frenchman Island, in the Oswego County jurisdiction of Oneida Lake. Oneida County Marine-1 was in the vicinity of Buoy-107, near the Verona Beach Lighthouse, when the call came in, and immediately responded, and was the first to arrive on the scene, at about 4:11 pm. Upon arrival, all parties were out of the water and were either sitting on the towing tube or were on top of the overturned pontoon boat and uninjured. There were 7 souls onboard the vessel and 1 soul on the towing tube when the boat capsized while they were enjoying a fun day of tubing out on the water. The vessel was a 21ft, 2023 Tahoe pontoon boat that the parties involved had rented from Brewerton Boatyard on the Oneida River. The owner of Brewerton Boat Yard arrived on scene shortly after law enforcement, transferred all parties over to his pontoon boat, and then transported them back to shore at the business after they refused medical. The vessel was salvaged by TowBoatU.S. Oneida Lake and towed to Brewerton Boat Yard to be hauled out for inspection/repair. The subsequent investigation by the Oneida County Sheriff's Office revealed that the skipper, Amanda L. Manciocchi, age-31, of Avoca, NY, was pulling Tyler S. Hite, age-36, of Columbia Crossroads, PA, at about 25-30mph when Amanda turned the vessel hard to port, causing Tyler to fall off the tube as it overturned, the tube then torpedoed under the water causing the vessel to trip and then capsize to its port side. The other souls onboard the capsized vessel were as follows: Devin S. Manciocchi, age-34, from Avoca, NYBrett W. Miller, age-46, from York, PASophia N. Miller, age-13, from York, PAPaxton S. Hite, age-5, from Columbia Crossroads, PAHaven M. Yanchuk, age-12, from Troy, PAAden T. Yanchuck, age-10, from Troy, PA All of the children were wearing Personal Flotation Devices (PFD's) at the time of this boat accident, which more than likely saved their lives. Alcohol use was not a factor in this boating accident. The skipper, Amanda Manciocchi, was issued a ticket for Reckless Operation, an Unclassified Misdemeanor, under the NYS Navigation Law, returnable to Vienna Town Court at a later date. According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, the Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating an industrial Accident in the Town of Sangerfield. On July 9, 2026, just before 9 AM, Sheriff’s Deputies and medical personnel from Waterville Fire Department, Oriskany Falls Fire Department, Central Oneida County Ambulance and Mercy Flight responded to Titan Homes, located at 951 State Route 12, for a report of a female who had fallen and was not responsive. Upon arrival, first responders located a 45-year-old female named Heather Gantz, from Ilion, NY, and began CPR and other life-saving measures. Gantz was transported to Wynn Hospital, where, despite all efforts, passed away. The Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Unit and the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office are currently investigating the circumstances of the incident to determine exactly what happened. According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on 07/10/2026, around 8:58 PM, Deputies responded to West South St in the Town of Westmoreland for a car deer personal injury motor vehicle accident. Upon investigation of the accident, it was determined that a 15-year-old male Juvenile was operating a KTM dirtbike in an easterly direction on W South St as a deer entered the southern shoulder of the roadway. The Juvenile collided with the deer resulting in him being ejected from the dirt bike, sustaining injuries. The Juvenile was transported by Mercy Flight to Upstate Medical Hospital for further evaluation. This incident is still under investigation. ONEIDA, NY — Construction is underway on a new 7 Brew Coffee drive-thru at 216 Genesee Street, following approval from the City of Oneida's Planning Commission / Zoning Board of Appeals. The project, submitted by Brew Team NY, LLC, went before the board at a public hearing held June 9, 2026, seeking a Conditional Use Permit and Site Plan Review for the property, located in a C-Commercial zoning district under Tax Map Number 38.57-1-3. The site previously housed a Cost Cutters salon. According to the city's public notice, the approved plans include a drive-through-only coffee stand, a remote cooler/dry storage structure, canopies and drive lanes, parking and landscaping, stormwater improvements, and signage. No food will be prepared on site — 7 Brew's menu is limited to coffee, tea, smoothies, energy drinks, and prepackaged snacks. Founded in Arkansas in 2017, 7 Brew has grown to more than 777 locations nationwide, with 18 currently open in New York. The chain has said it plans to bring dozens more locations to upstate New York in the coming years. No opening date has been announced. ILION, N.Y. — Two vehicles reported stolen from the Ilion Department of Public Works have been recovered in the City of Utica, authorities announced. The vehicles were stolen on June 22, 2026. Felony DWI Charge On Tuesday, July 7th, at approximately 9:00 p.m., New Hartford Police responded to the area of 151 Clinton Road for a report of a vehicle that, according to the reporting person, may have been possibly involved in a collision. It was reported that the vehicle was stopped in the parking lot and occupied by an unresponsive male driver at this time within the parking lot at 151 Clinton Rd. Upon arrival, officers located a running 2011 Ford Escape with an adult male passed out and seated in the driver's seat while the car was held at a stop by the operator's foot resting on the brake pedal. Officers were able to wake the operator. Upon making contact with the operator, the operator was identified as Vincent Infusino, age 43, of Whitestown. During the investigation, officers observed signs of intoxication. Police administered standard field sobriety tests upon Infusino. Based on the results of the investigation, Infusino was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated. Further investigation by police determined that Infusino would be charged with Felony Driving While Intoxicated. Infusino was arrested and transported to the New Hartford Police Department, where a breath test was administered. Infusino was charged with the following: 1) NYS VTL 1192(3) -Driving While Intoxicated, a Misdemeanor. 2) NYS VTL 1192(2) – Driving While Intoxicated, Previous DWI Convictions within 10 Years, a Felony. An investigation determined that Thompson was operating a 2021 Freightliner tractor-trailer when she became involved in a dispute with her passenger, Capers. During the incident, Thompson brought the tractor-trailer to an abrupt stop in the middle of the roadway before reversing and striking an uninvolved 2022 Jeep occupied by Kenneth D. Zorns, age 43, of Morrisonville, NY. During the investigation, Troopers recovered a loaded 9mm Taurus G3C handgun and two large-capacity ammunition feeding devices after they were thrown from the tractor trailer. Neither Thompson nor Capers claimed ownership of the firearm, and neither possessed a valid New York State pistol permit. No injuries were reported as a result of the crash. According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, a Utica woman was arrested following a larceny investigation at the Oneida County Office Building, located at 800 Park Ave. in the City of Utica. On July 8, 2026, at about 9:49 AM, Tiffany L. Greene, age 41, of Utica, walked into the Street Corner Market Store, which is located in the Oneida County Office Building. She removed several Kit Kat and Kinder Bueno candy bars from a shelf, placed them in a duffel bag, and left the store without paying for them. A store employee reported to Deputies who were at the Oneida County Office Building that Greene was in the store when she noticed all of the candy bars missing from the shelf. Greene was immediately taken into custody after she left the store, and all of the missing candy bars were located in her duffel bag. A total of 26 candy bars were stolen and recovered. Greene was brought to the Oneida County Courthouse booking room, was arrested, and charged with Petit Larceny, 155.25, of the New York State Penal Law, a class A misdemeanor. Greene was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Utica City Court at a later date and time and then released. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 145 domestically acquired cases of cyclosporiasis were reported across 17 states among people who became sick from May 1 through June 16, 2026. The CDC reported 20 hospitalizations and no deaths connected to the current surveillance count. In New York, the CDC reported between 31 and 80 cases during that same period. Health officials have not identified one specific source tied to the New York cases, and the CDC says there is currently no evidence of a single multistate outbreak linking all reported cases. Cyclosporiasis is an intestinal illness caused by the microscopic parasite Cyclospora. It is typically spread when someone eats food or drinks water contaminated with the parasite. Past U.S. outbreaks have often been connected to fresh produce, especially imported produce, according to the New York State Department of Health. Common symptoms include diarrhea, stomach cramps, bloating, nausea, fatigue, loss of appetite, and weight loss. Some people may also experience vomiting, body aches, headache, low-grade fever, or flu-like symptoms. Symptoms often begin about one week after infection, though some people may not have symptoms at all. The CDC says cyclosporiasis cases typically rise during the warmer months, with the main surveillance season running from May 1 through August 31. Health officials are continuing to investigate possible sources and clusters, including whether any cases may be tied to a common food source. Residents are encouraged to wash fresh fruits and vegetables thoroughly under running water, keep produce refrigerated, wash hands before preparing food, and contact a healthcare provider if they experience ongoing diarrhea or severe stomach symptoms. Cooking food can kill the parasite. What to know: Cyclosporiasis can be treated, but it may require specific testing to diagnose. Anyone with prolonged diarrhea, dehydration concerns, or symptoms that do not improve should contact their healthcare provider.
