two males were on a pontoon boat on Somerset Lake setting off fireworks when an unexpected malfunction occurred. Authorities believe that multiple fireworks ignited simultaneously, causing a violent explosion aboard the vessel. One of the individuals on the boat was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the explosion. The second male was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries....

Deputies determined that a juvenile female, who will not be named due to her age, was operating a black UTV attempting to cross State Route 5 in a southerly direction, when due to driver inexperience, and failure to yield the right of way, the juvenile entered the roadway causing a White Acura traveling westbound on State Route 5, operated by Hironmia Burnett (50) of Clinton, to strike the driver side of the UTV.

On June 29, 2025, at approximately 2:10 a.m., New York State Police responded to a motorcycle accident at the intersection of County Route 10 and Hurley Road in the town of Lewis.

Troopers then interviewed Emerson who appeared to be impaired.  Troopers noted a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle and Emerson's clothing.  Emerson was given standardized field sobriety testing which he subsequently failed.  Emerson was then placed under arrest. 

Preliminary investigation reveals that during a storm, a large tree fell onto a parked tow behind camper. The tree had fallen lengthwise onto the camper, crushing the front end.

Deputies were dispatched by the 911 center to multiple residences, in the Town of Kirkland, regarding trees collapsing onto residences. On June 22, 2025, multiple reports of trees down were reported throughout Oneida County, stemming from the severe storm that occurred during the overnight and early morning hours.

After being processed, David was transported to the Oneida County Correctional Facility to await arraignment.

Federal prosecutor John A. Sarcone III was the target of a knife attack in downtown Albany on Tuesday, June 17, as he was leaving his office. The attacker, identified as Saul Morales-Garcia, is an illegal immigrant from El Salvador who had previously been deported but re-entered the U.S. in 2021.

On June 17, 2025, State Police arrested Joshua R. Snide, 35, of Ellenburg, NY, on charges of Vehicular Manslaughter in the 1st Degree, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, and multiple vehicle and traffic violations.

A store employee reported that an unknown suspect entered the business, brandished a knife, and demanded money from the cash register. The suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash. No injuries were reported during the incident.

Police were dispatched to the Steet Ponte Chevrolet store on State Route 28 in the town of Herkimer for two males going through a dumpster. During the pursuit, officers witnessed Stevens climb a ladder onto the rooftop of a commercial building on the 900 block of South Street. After some time, Stevens exited the roof and was taken into custody without further incident. Stevens has been charged with Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree. The investigation remains ongoing.

Upon arrival, it was reported that one individual was fleeing the store with a shopping cart full of merchandise. As police arrived, they observed the female suspect, and the suspect began to run. After a brief foot pursuit, the female was taken into custody by police. It was determined that $1002.65 worth of Target Store merchandise was stolen. The suspect identified as Nichole Slattery, 29 of Utica, was arrested and charged with the following;

As a result of the search warrant, Officers seized 45 hen chickens and 5 domestic ducks living in filthy and cramped conditions. Most of the poultry were suffering from loss of feathers and other illnesses. The poultry were seized and the owner was arrested and charged with animal cruelty. We would like to remind those who live in the City of Syracuse that, while owning chickens in the City is allowed, owners are still subject to animal cruelty laws.
