Hornellsville, NY – A Rochester man was arrested after a domestic dispute early Tuesday morning led to a vehicle crashing into the Aldi’s grocery store in the town of Hornellsville, according to the New York State Police in Hornell.
On October 22, 2025, around 3:45 a.m., Troopers responded to a report of a physical domestic dispute on Seneca Road North in Hornell. Before Troopers arrived, the male suspect reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle.
Moments later, authorities were called to the Aldi’s store at 1191 County Route 66 after reports of a vehicle that had crashed into the building. Upon arrival, Troopers discovered a 2024 Jeep that had gone through the exterior brick wall and come to rest on its driver’s side. The vehicle was unoccupied when officers arrived.
A short time later, Troopers located and detained a man matching the suspect’s description near the scene. He was identified as Markiest D. Hartfield, 30, of Rochester, NY.
Hartfield was evaluated by emergency medical services and found to be uninjured. The Jeep was removed from the crash site, and further investigation revealed that the domestic incident had involved two victims at the Seneca Road North residence.

Two counts of Assault in the 3rd Degree (A Misdemeanor)
Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree (A Misdemeanor)
Reckless Driving (Unclassified Misdemeanor)
