Charlton Man Arrested for Possession of Stolen HVAC Equipment

Charlton, NY – September 7, 2025

State Police in Saratoga have arrested a Charlton man after allegedly recovering thousands of dollars’ worth of stolen property outside his residence.

According to officials, Troopers were called to a Dawson Road home around 8:00 a.m. on Sunday after receiving a report that stolen items had been located there. The investigation determined that Douglas H. Hyson, 70, of Charlton, was in possession of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) equipment valued at more than $3,000.

Police say the equipment had been reported stolen the previous day from a business in Rotterdam, NY.

Hyson was taken into custody at his home and transported to the State Police barracks in Charlton for processing. He was later arraigned in Charlton Town Court, where a judge ordered him held at the Saratoga County Correctional Facility without bail.

The case remains under investigation, and additional charges have not been ruled out.
