UPDATE: State Police Investigate Incident in the Outer District of Rome NY

New York State Police are actively investigating a homicide following an early morning incident on May 10, 2025, in the outer district of Rome, NY.

At approximately 4:33 a.m., Troopers were dispatched to a residence on Elmer Hill Road for a report of a possible assault. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. 

The victim, identified as Mark A. Capparelli, age 56, of Rome, NY, was transported to Wynn Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. 

The investigation is being led by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation. 

State Police are asking anyone with information related to this case is urged to contact New York State Police at (315) 366-6000.

The investigation remains ongoing.

The case is currently being investigated by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation.  

Due to the sensitive nature of the investigation, no further information will be released at this time.  

This is an isolated incident, and there is no threat to public safety.
